In the 1990s, Arturo Gilio was a major draw in Mexico, known especially for his work with the banderillas and a charisma matched by few. He has since retired to become a bull breeder.
Take heart. The Gilio name continues.
Arturo Gilio Jr. is making a name for himself as a novillero, with indications he has inherited the talent and charisma of his father.
While there are similarities between father and son in style, the new Gilio shows some distinct differences in mannerisms on the sand. Nonetheless, he is showing much promise and it is hoped as things go on he too, will become a top Mexican matador.
Suerte.
